Aftercare

Following your treatment or surgery, you will be fully supported by a team of dieticians, clinical nurse specailists and clinical psychologist to help ensure the success of long term weight loss.

Bariatric aftercare consists of a multidisciplinary  team approach from the surgeons, dieticians, clinical nurse specialist and clinical psychologist if required.  The aftercare is a vital part of a patients weight loss journey to ensure the success of long term weight loss. Weight regain is likely to happen without appropriate follow up and commitment.

Length of follow up as below:

  • ESG – follow up for 1 year, seeing both the dieticians and Mr Kelly

  • Sleeve / RNY / MG – consultant follow up at 6 weeks then 2 year follow up with dieticians.

  • Lap Band – 1 year follow up with unlimited band adjustments as required within the first year.

Appointments are offered at three, six, 12, 18 and 24 months, for specialist dietetic advice. These are tailored to your needs and can take place face-to-face, virtually or by telephone call.

Your follow up appointments include:

  • How to change your lifestyle and habits to get the best results

  • How to eat and chew after surgery

  • Improving your relationships with food and how to control emotional eating

  • Medication and supplementation advice

  • GP support and post - operative blood test review

  • How to become more active – community resources

  • Troubleshooting any complications

  • Access to hospital out of hours service

  • Access to your surgeon if clinically indicated.

  • Access to patient support group via social media and group meetings.

 Referral to clinical psychologist can be made at any time.
